macOS basic stamps pics

I take an electronics class in school, and we are getting into programming pretty soon.. We use different types of chips, pics, stamps etc.. for my robot, since we had some extras, we are going to be programming this on a pic using basic... Is there a way to program basic and all these other microcontrollers on a mac? We use extremely old **** computers in school, and a lot of kids bring in their own laptops to do proggramming on.. so i was just wondering..
