Last Year, in Reading the quickest way to get the ipad 2 was either John Lewis or Argos.

But This year I may try the Apple store Oracle. if the doors do not open till 6am do people que up outside the Oracle entrance & then run to the Apple Store, as that will be a mess.

well its confirmed that it will be an 8am launch time.

I can only assume that the main entrance from the riverside will be the one that will open.

What time is everyone planning on getting there?

Just spoke to the Apple Shop in the Oracle,

They confirmed the 8am opening time, no idea on stock levels & they also will have que mamangement in place from 4am. But they are expecting people to be queing from the eveing before, I hope that is not true.

I might add that last year, Comet in the Forbury put one aside for me when I walked in in the morning and asked nicely.

Also, John Lewis gave out numbers before the launch, although I doubt they do it this time due to it being early.

And last but not least, PC World in the Oracle had a surprising amount of iPads and quite a short and well-managed queue. They closed shop and then reopened just for the launch and let people in one by one.

All in all, my launch experience in Reading, sans Apple store, was much better than at most of the Apple Stores around the country (I only queued for 30 mins to get exactly the one I wanted from PC World), so my inclination would actually be to go somewhere OTHER than an Apple Store...

Not confirmed, but based on the iPhone 4s launch oracle This is what was posted on the oracle info page "The Oracle will open at 6am and a queue will be formed by the Minster Street doors (next to HMV)."

& when I called he apple store yesterday they said there will que management from 4am.

Really not sure what time to get there for, as I want to in out by 8:30.

Well, as you can read above the queue is going to be formed by the unsuspecting door towards HMV, down from broad street. If there's a queue there, and they open early, they will probably only do that at that door as well. So any other "main" door won't do you much good, because by the time THEY open for general business the Apple Store will have been raided...

sure, however that was for a previous event, that was put on the website.

The centre have confirmed that it will open at 6am, that means ALL entrances. So whichever you go to, you will get entry from 6am.

I would have thought Apple staff will be on every entrance :)
