My mid-2014 15" MBpro has come down with swollen battery syndrome. I took it to Apple and they first said that they would repair it ($200, 3-5 days) all good and then I got a message that the technician (snowflake?) had found tobacco smoke residue inside and would not work on it! Lengthy discussion went no where - all I heard was about their policy (cannot find it in writing anywhere)

Been looking at Craig's list well specked (early)2019s - cheap - because of the keyboard issue? I'm debating going to a DIY battery replacement (I have the skills) or going for a 2019.

Considerations: Parallels is important to me - I run 3 legacy windows programs under XP SP3 I have learned, by trial and error with my 2015 MB Air, running OS 11.1, that Parallels 16 will run XP3 (their website is a little vague on that) and my old Windows programs, Quicken 2004, Office 2003 and Dragon Naturally Speaking ?? will mount and run so I'm OK with a newer machine -

Machine issues - Don't care about the touchpad, use only a mouse - keyboard use is moderate - my hands are severely impaired - any lengthy text is done by dictation probably the most intense keyboard use is the daily WSJ crossword puzzle.

Thoughts from any 2019 owners out there? anyone else?

Thanks
