My daughter has an iPhone 11 and has started to have serious battery issues which I can't seem to fix.
Before I take the iPhone 11 in for a battery replacement, I want to make sure I did everything on my end.

Now I think I did everything but maybe I haven't??
I mean I've searched and read many how to battery fixes, like this one.

Hasn't fixed the problem.

The phone charges fine, it charges to 100%.
In about 10-15 minutes, the phone goes from 100% to 0% with no use.

Have had the phone for a little over a year now.

Is there anything in settings I need to check?

Do I just take the phone in for a battery replacement?

Thanks all.

If it’s draining that fast there is a problem with the battery.

Is it a genuine battery? Or has it been replaced previously?

Original battery, never been replaced.

I guess I'll be going to best buy to replace the battery then

Thanks

That sounds like it could be a software issue. Are there any apps running in the background?

First step - check the Battery in the Settings and see if there are any unusual usage patterns from the apps listed there. If so, force-quit the suspected app, restart the iPhone and see if it helps?

If you have a Mac, download and run Coconut Battery and check the health of your iPhone’s battery with it:

A very useful tool.

If you see that the battery capacity is still good (and we should expect it to be after one year of use), perhaps try restoring her iPhone? It might take you a few hours, but might still be better than having to swap a normal battery.

Restart the device, if the issue is the same week battery service. 15 minutes on a full charge would be hard to achieve in software without the phone melting.

Thanks again everyone for the help and suggestions.

Haven't had a chance to run coconut battery yet.

Owned the phone for a little over a year.
Phone bought brand new in December/2019
Original battery, never been replaced.

Just checked her phone in battery health :

Right next to Battery Health message says Service

When I tap on Battery Health, there is a message that the battery's health is significantly degraded.

Maximum capacity says 98%

I didn't see or notice anything unusual in the graph.
Only 3 apps running the background; Twitch, IG, and TikTok.
The most any of those 3 ran in the background was 19 minutes.

I have suggested those apps be closed/force quit when not in use to see if that helps.

If force quiting those 3 apps doesn't help the battery, I'll try a factory reset.
I didn't think about that.
If the reset doesn't do anything, then I'll take it in for a new battery.

Thanks again.

I‘d recommend a DFU restore. It helped me once with similar issues with an iPhone 6 when normal factory reset or recovery mode did not.

See section „How to enter DFU mode on iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, or iPhone 11 Max“.

Before I'd do a DFU I'd force kill all the apps - background or not and then do a restart. May not help at all but worth a try

You can look at battery usage just in case as @Icehart mentioned. However, with the service battery message and that rate of drain — I’ve never seen worse than a percent per minute or two — I’m very strongly going to back the conclusion it’s a bad battery.

So that battery didn't drain today as quickly as before.
But the Service message is still next to Battery Health.

At this point, do I even bother to factory reset or just go ahead and replace the battery?

If the service message shows up, something is wrong with the battery that iOS detected. I would chat with Apple support first to see if they can diagnose it. Imo doing a factory reset might not help if the actual batter has an issue. In the end, batteries are chemicals, and these things happen.

I would say get in touch with Apple support first.

hi everyone

want to update this thread in case anyone else out there is going through the same thing as i am
