I have an opportunity to buy a mint early 2015 MacBook Pro with the following configuration. It has four cycles on the battery. With this low battery cycle count for this year’s model be a solid choice or a questionable bargain due to limited use? Price is good, only concerned about battery.

MacBook Pro 13 Early 2015 3.1Ghz i7/16GB/1TB

Thanks

I would say there is no such thing as a five year old “mint” machine. The low cycle count doesn’t sway me—it’s still a five year old battery. It might work fine for a while (even a long while). If the price is good and you are willing to buy a new battery if it becomes necessary, go for it.

Wow... well, it was either like never used, or it was plugged into power literally all the time. I don’t think there’s a way to find out which was the case. Do you know the seller? If you can take a look and see if it is indicating “service battery soon,” or something along those lines.

Actually, it is also possible the battery was replaced very recently. Depending on asking price, that could make this a very good deal.

A battery replacement could explain the low cycle, but then I would want to know if Apple replaced it or a third party. If Apple replaced the battery and the owner can verify that, then that would be the best scenario, as I'm weary of the other mentioned yet possible solution for the low cycle count-- that it was always plugged in. I just posted in another thread that I ruined mine that way.
