By this I mean that when my iPhone 4 is on 100% charge – I can have it sitting on my desk at work (not connected to wifi but have a strong 3G signal here) all day between 9am and 5:15pm and when I get home at 6pm and look at my phone, its only dropped down to between 90 & 98%.

However – when the charge is low (like today it was 28% when I started work at 9am again) it drops at a quicker rate – its 3pm now and I just looked at my phone and the battery has dropped to 17%.

Is this how a battery should operate?!
