My iPhone 12 was delivered around 11/12/20 and I noticed the battery capacity is now at 98%.

Is this considered a normal drop?

Average usage. Charge every night and don't let in fully drain. Usually leave on charger overnight however...

I wouldnt stress over a capacity drop. Since you had it since launch, it should expected. If it goes below 80% before the year is up, apple will replace it for free at no cost.

All depends on what your phone came with from the factory. Sometimes they come with 103%, 108%, some come with 96% or 98% or 99%. Batteries don't wear at a consistent rate either, you can have months and stay at the same %. I've had batteries that stayed rock solid for almost 2 years, others that dropped quite a lot with same usage. My wife uses her phone like anyone else so I get to compare my babying of my battery to her heavy usage. Her capacity is usually within a few % of my phone despite me babying my battery. <shrug>.

Apple guarantees 500 cycles and 80% within a year (or two with AppleCare+).

Your battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles. The one-year warranty includes service coverage for a defective battery. If it is out of warranty, Apple offers a battery service. Prices and terms may vary.

Another day, another battery health thread, when will this madness end.

Enjoy your phone, once your battery health hits 80% change your battery and move on, you'll most likely have a new phone before it even gets close to hitting 80%

You should see some of the iPhone Facebook groups and Reddit pages, it’s nothing but Battery Health questions or at some point the conversation turns to Battery Health.

Apple need to hide this crap, it’s got people incredibly worked up for nothing. The moment Battery Health drops people are worried and posting threads and then you get those people who are on 100% health for 50million years and think they are Gods who have somehow absolutely avoided any sort of battery degradation and then suddenly boom on year 50,000,001 it drops to 99% and they lose it “I did everything, charged it to 80%, never let it drop below 50%, what the hell, I thought I had it all figured out!”

Jokes aside, I think at some point Apple will hide this, if this is what we are seeing on Forums, I would hate to see what those poor Apple Geniuses are dealing with in store.

Agree, either hide it or go into more detail in battery health settings, maybe people will stress less then. 🤦‍♂️

Normal. Really depends on the usage scenario. My iPhone 11 drops to 88% now after almost 18 months.
