Hello. I own a 1st gen MacBook Pro that is 34 months old. The battery holds very little charge anymore. According to cocunutBattery its maximum charge is 696 mAh while in its original state was 5500 mAh. I understand my laptop is just under 3 years old and all but I'm sort of pissed the battery is dead already. At a full charge and not plugged in I can use the laptop for a whopping 5 minutes before it shuts off.

Is this the normal life expectancy of MPB batteries? I "calibrated" the battery every now and then by full charging it and using it straight until it was completely dead. Didn't seem to help I guess.

I don't know how it is with macbooks, because I'm on my first. But with my previous laptops, (HPs, Toshibas), the battery never lasted more than 2 years. In fact after 18 months, I had about 1 hour left... I think yours is pretty normal...
