I took my 7 Plus to the Apple store yesterday. After battery replacement device did not turn on again. Got new device for cost of battery $29 + tax.

Anyone else experience this?

There are several reports of where the phone get damaged during the repair and they have to replace the phone.

Do you by chance have any links? I looked but couldn't find anything. I guess I need to search Google.

I was just curious as I'd had a lot of issues with that phone prior to this that prompted me to move to android.

Now I'm wondering if the phone was accidentally damaged or they found a flaw in it that made it not turn on again.

Late last year my wife's phone was damaged by a battery replacement. She had the 6s+ shut off battery issue and lived with it for a year, we took it in, complained, showed them how it drained and shut off before 0%, they said battery was green, so I shelled out $89? to get it replaced. In so doing, they screwed up the screen (half of it wouldn't light up) and the phone restarted constantly. Fed up with the treatment we got at this store, we went to the one we normally go to near our house and in 6 mins she walked out with a brand new 6s+ for $0 (AppleCare+). Apple eventually credited our CC $55? a few months ago in response to the $29 thing.

It happens now and then, hasn't happened to me personally. I posted the above in a handful of threads back when the battery shutoff was trending.

My vote is the phone was accidentally damaged.

Thanks, yeah you're probably right.

Well it's a pretty, shiny, new jet black 7 Plus. Refurb but looks brand new. Battery is not draining as fast either.

Mine was only at 89% under the battery beta and diagnostics but it would go from 99% charged to 40% charged in like two hours. It was bizarre.

My husband got his battery replaced recently under the 6s battery recall for free. His went well. Phone is good.

Not related to battery, but my friend was going to repair his iPhone 6's screen due to a crack at an Apple store. They later said they couldn't do it and gave him a whole new phone instead (which still is a great deal for the price of just a screen repair).

Planning to take advantage of the $29 battery replacement on my 6S later this year.

I would. Since they won't turn you away. I just was concerned that a simple battery change ended up with me having a whole new phone.

Guess I'll just be grateful.

Newton is right. There have been several reports on here of the phone shutting off after battery replacement. And from what I can recall, Apple replaced the phone most, if not every time.

I just hadn't read any. I was curious.

Of course I'm also silly and was a bit sad after all the work to keep it pristine.

Ah well, it ended good. No issues so far with this device. Seems to be doing good on battery too even on 11.4.1.
