Battery charge notification

Travelling the inland waterways of the UK
Today I was working away and listenng to Spotify and had not realised my power lead had disconnected until my Mac just died..
Plugged in and started up and battery was at 0%
I had no warning of low battery at all..I thought I got a message in the notification centre and a pop up in my working window too. but did not today..
Is there some way of turning it on?..

Unfortunately not but any of the battery apps can be configured to do so
