Battery Condition Not Being Shown

I've clicked on the battery icon when not plugged in and I don't see a condition at all. I've also checked settings for the battery in preferences and do not see an option. Am I doing anything wrong? Thanks!

when you press the battery icon in menubar, do you see the "Show" option?

Hold the option key while clicking the battery icon. It then shows your condition.
