Battery doesn't fit??

I spilled red bull on mbp unibody and let it dry for 3 days, etc., but now when I try to insert the battery, it won't set into the connector. I stick the bottom end in first and it just sits up on the battery connector. I tried applying a little force, but how much force is needed? I don't want to break it.

I'm an idiot. I had to have the switch flipped up.

Little known fact: The lever latches not only the battery cover, but also the battery itself. Good luck getting your machine back to life.
