Hi, I have a 2017 base model Macbook pro. For the first 10 days, the battery lasted 9-10 hours with normal web browsing. Then, all of a sudden, with no change in my usage, it started lasting 4-5 hours, and it has been like that ever since (past 6 months). Apple has no solutions. Also, apps often take 5-10 seconds to open. A 2015 macbook air that I sometimes use was much faster in opening apps until I installed Mojave, at which point it too slowed down and the battery life also got cut in half from 10 to 5 hours.

Does anyone know what the issue might be?

I'm attaching a screen shot of the disk information in Activity Monitor. Is that a high amount of data read and written for 6 months of light usage? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

My computer is up to date with the latest operating system.

Hi,

Have you checked your battery's health?
I've had similar issues for months with my MBP 2017. I started suspecting battery health, tested thoroughly and concluded it was.

Went to Apple Store 3 weeks ago, they confirmed that the battery washed out quicker than expected, due to "intense usage". Got battery + top cover changed, and all is fine so far.

T'was expensive though

I don't think so. They had me run tests, and said everything was fine. This started happening after probably only 5-6 cycle counts. I bought a refurbished 2017 mbp earlier this year that had the same problem. They couldn't figure that one out either, so I returned it. It's a shame, because I really like this computer otherwise.
