My battery has been draining quicker recently so i have most things turned off such as mobile data. When I was replying to SMS a prompt came up asking me to turn on mobile data. Why would SMS ask for my mobile data to be turned on?

I have seen that you can get apps to spy on you iPhone and upload your SMS to a web server but I haven't downloaded anything like this. Do you think an app I have downloaded from the app store could be doing this behind the scenes?

When looking for the answer to this I have come across a few articles saying SMS can be hacked by visiting a hacked webpage so I am a bit worried something is doing something like this.

Edit:

I think this may be due to the mobile mail process as I don't have any mail configured and have push set to off and fetch set to manual but I keep seeing the mobile mail process popping up. The only way I can kill the process is by opening mail so it shows in the multitasking list and then closing it from there. Obviously mobile mail needs mobile data turned on so this could explain why this popped up when I was writing a SMS as the times seem to tally up.
