I currently live in an area with poor signal strength with Verizon. I have gigabit fiber and can use a Verizon LTE extender to get an average of 3 bars in my house.
However, I find that using the Verizon Call Wi-Fi option on my iPhone 7 plus is far superior than using than using the extender.
If I eliminate the Verizon extender my signal strength will drop to 0 or 1 bars but since I'm using Call Wi-Fi mode it's not a problem. I have great Wi-Fi in the house.
My question is even though I'm in Call Wi-Fi mode and my signal strength is almost nil will my battery drain faster trying to constantly "find" a better signal or does being in Call Wi-Fi mode tell the iPhone to stop trying so hard to find a signal(battery drain) while connected to Wi-Fi?
I would like to eliminate the extender altogether if possible but if my iPhone will be constantly searching for a signal draining my battery even though I'm in call Wi-Fi mode it's not worth it.
