I have had terrible battery life on my iPhone 4s. Last night went from 100% to 66% while I was asleep and getting ready for work in the morning. Usage showed over 9 hours since last charge but showed usage of 9 hours. During that time I had not touched the phone. What causes usage in background while phone is locked? Something is wrong not sure what. Have drained the battery and recharged no help.

I had a iPhone 4 with ios 5 with all the same settings and things running and did not have this problem.

Ps if you phone works and battery is good don't post on this thread. I'm glad for you. We are all glad for you. Mine does not!

I have the exact same problem. Mine went down to 72% in 8 hours overnight with NO USAGE.

I have tried draining battery and recharging, reseting settings and re-download/re-installing iOS 5 via itunes. Nothing has worked.

If your battery is draining through standby overnight a huge percentage, its a hardware problem...

If you just have bad battery life but your standby isn't terrible, your usage stats are...its iOS5 related...

For you two, i'd suggest genius appoints so they have run tests, they will replace em for malfunctions.

Hardware problems - when battery is just losing charge no matter what
iOS 5 software problems - battery drains faster than normal due to unknown issues and background processes...while using the phone, not standby

Out of curiosity, what cell provider are you using, and what is your signal like at home when its just sitting idle overnight?

Thanks for starting a new thread on this! I was concerned that discussion about your phone in particular might get lost in the several threads that already existed.

I was hoping to get more unhelpful responses. So it would be 51 pages. Thanks for your help
