Battery draining when lid closed

Can someone help me understand why my battery drains so much when the lid is closed? If i close the lid, which i believe puts the computer to sleep, my battery continually drains. On a near full charge it'll drop down to 30-50% in a matter of a couple of days.

How do i determine what's causing this?

I'd check the "Energy Saver" settings under preferences, try turning off the power nap and turning on the put drives to sleep. These would both be for the battery tab.

Do you have the new 15" MBP? have you noticed any differences in the cooling setup? I'm hoping these are better then the 2015s.

Turns out all modern MacBooks wake every two hours in sleep mode, even on battery for the first 12 hours they sleep.

If you are handy with the system files and plist files there seems to be a remedy. Though, Apple needs to stop doing this ...
