I've got a 160gb iPod classic.

It doesn't seem to want to charge but the battery still keeps a charge.

Like right now the battery is about 30% but it would still last a few hours but I've had it on the charger overnight and doesn't fully charge at all.

I don't want to buy a new battery if that's not the problem.

I've taken it apart and disconnected the battery connector, reformatted the firmeware but I still get the samething.

it would seem that you might just need o calibrate the battery. let it fully die, then charge to full capacity. if that doesn't do it, it might just be that software is reporting the wrong data. So u might need to restore it. if that doesn't work, take it to an apple store to check out the battery , because something is obviously messed up.
