my macbook pro is about 18 months old and the battery life just got really bad.

it was slowly getting worse at an expected rate until about last week i could get about 6 hours using the internet, watching movies and stuff like that.

a few days ago just sitting on the desktop, doing nothing. bluetooth, wifi off, screen brightness on almost nothing. the time next to the icon was 2 hours, with 98% charge.

is it normal for the sudden drop in battery life or is something wrong with it? what should i do?

all batteries die over time, it's a fact of life.....

technology for batteries is always improving, but we still don't have perfect batteries.

I would also base my results on ACTUAL testing, not how much time the battery indicator THINKS it has. I've seen times where it will say I have 40 minutes left and my battery still lasts for another 2 hours.

yeah, i did all that recalibration stuff, it didnt do much.
i also downloaded those programs it had on the battery page and it said my battery is 90% after 300 charges which seems pretty normal to me. my problem is that it went from 6 hours of charge to 2 hours overnight. my question is, is that normal??????

If you have applecare and the battery is only lasting 2 hours they may replace it for you. Have you called Apple?

That's the typical sigh of a dead battery and you will need to replace it. Take your mac into an apple store for the genius to look at it and they'll check it. 18 months seems to be the time when they die, as mine did, and I got it replace for free!

Cheers, Macjim.

i tried to take care of my battery as good as i could. what do u think?
