Has anyone had to pay for the $29 “out of warranty” if their battery isn’t below 80%? The Apple care plus on my wife’s iPhone 7 Plus is going to expire next month and I wanted to get it replaced before that.

The Apple store I went to said it’s witin spec, even though I mentioned it’s dying way too fast. It’ll be down to 30% left after very little use.

I had mine replaced a few months ago. Battery health was 93%. Have apple care plus so I didn’t have to pay for the replacement. They didn’t question the replacement but I did go through troubleshooting with support before making the appointment to get the battery replaced.

I’m in the same boat with my 7. Launch day 7 and my Apple care plus runs out in October. I’m at 87% health.

Battery used to get 8-9 hours of usage. Now I’m down to 5-6 hours of usage.

I’m hoping to get it replaced for “free”. Well you know $136 actually is what I already paid for the Apple care plus. I haven’t used anything with it either yet do I’m thinking they won’t give me much trouble I hope!

Apple stores have been really letting me down as of late with Apple care plus. They refuse to replace my iPhone 7 that is having speaker issues (people can’t hear me when I’m on speaker), they hassled me about my iPad that had a crack and said they “needed to send it in for more diagnostics before they could replace it” and now this.

Out of curiosity, if your battery health was 93%, what trouble were they shooting that justified a replacement covered by AppleCare?
