I have a smart plug and want to ensure having a healthy battery. About how often should I schedule the plug to be off to cycle the battery?

My intent is to leave the laptop plugged in all the time but want the plug to schedule times to turn off to allow for the use of the battery.

Thanks

I guess let it discharge once a month?

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. I'd plug it in when you can and run it off of the battery when you have to. In 3-5 years it will most likely need to be replaced no matter how you treat it.

As above, at least once a month should be fine to maintain a healthy battery. I wouldn't worry too much about it though and there's definitely no hard and fast rule, as long as the battery is given the opportunity to discharge and fully charge every now and then it should be healthy. You can find some information about the battery on the notebook lines here: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204054

You really don't need to worry about the battery. They have designed them to last 3 to 5 years whether they stay plugged in the entire time or not.

There is no need to do that. Once the battery is charged, the system will stop charging on its own. By turning off the charger like you suggest, you are just running down the battery unnecessarily and adding needless power cycles to the battery... wearing it out sooner.

Here are a couple links with the official info from Apple on batteries.
