Sometimes my wife's laptop shows "Not charging" under the battery status. It shows that it is 50% charged, but does not rise. Any idea why this may be happening?

This happened once on my powerbook. From the menu bar battery icon I just switched in to a different "show" setting and back, and that fixed it. Meaing I switched it from 'show time remaining' to 'show percent' and it fixed the problem. Then you can set it to whatever you like again.
