Battery indicator - iPhone says charged, iTunes says charging

I've had problems with my battery heating up and entirely draining within 3-5 hours. This was on my first 3G, and the replacement. I believed it was an issue with the OS 2.2.1, since it was fine before that.

I just noticed my iPhone says the battery is charged, but iTunes says the battery is still charging. I never noticed that before, but I rarely charged my iPhone from my iMac.

Is this significant?
