Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

When I plugged my iPhone into my car this morning, the indicator kept switching between the bolt and plug icons, even though the phone was 48%. When the plug appeared, the phone sounded, indicating that it was unplugged, even though the cable was fairly new. It works fine with my iPod.

This is the first time this has happened. I first tried turning off the iPhone all the way, which didn't seem to help. I did the hard shutdown (sleep/home button trick) and it seemed to fix it.

What caused this, and is there anything I can do to prevent it from happening again?

The plug is fine, car battery is new, it's never happened before and I had two apps open: Settings and Safari (Facebook).
