First I know I should upgrade, plan on getting a 16 soon.
This has been happening for awhile. I will be using my laptop after being fully charged. I will be sitting at coffee shop surfing the web when I feel my knees getting warm. The laptop is very hot in the back and the battery starts to plummet. It will take about hour to drop to 50%. I know it is old and will got to about 30% and turn itself off.

It also seems to get hot when it is charging. I never hear the fans come on.

Does this mean it is just old and dying a slow death.
I have 8 gig of ram and I am running Sierra

I am considering it. I went online and as usual found conflicting views on it. Some said the new replacement battery did last as long the old one, etc
Even when I get the 16 I would like to keep 2012 going. I run filmmaker pro and the version I have will not run past sierra, so I would like to keep for that.

I had new battery and trackpad cable installed at my apple store on my early ‘15 MBP. New lease on life
