Currently running a 2012 MBP and I have had a ton of issues, the one plaguing me now is that the computer will randomly shut off if not plugged in, and will randomly shut off during very intensive processes (Like HandBrake).

First thing I thought, was battery but it looks normal:
Charge Information:
Charge Remaining (mAh): 6194
Fully Charged: Yes
Charging: No
Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 6393
Health Information:
Cycle Count: 472
Condition: Normal
Battery Installed: Yes
Amperage (mA): 0
Voltage (mV): 12421

Would really appreciate help with this, don't want to spend $110 on a battery that won't fix my problem.

The computer has already murdered one SSD from it's random shut offs.

When plugged in it's pegged at 100%, when not it's normal. (That's when they die)

What process is using 100%? It shouldn't idle at 100% CPU use just because it's plugged in. This would suggest the overheating theory is correct.

Handbrake, shrinking and converting video files. It doesn't get to Temps I haven't seen before. Fans spin up to 6200RPM at usual, at temps get to around 98* (I've had them get to 105* no problem). That still doesn't explain it shutting off at idle when unplugged.

The battery looks okay there. Try running the Apple Hardware Test to see what it turns up.

I ran the AHT, and it hangs at 21 seconds on the memory testing.

Dang. Looks like a more serious hardware issue I suppose. I think a visit to the Apple Store is in your future.

Knowing my luck, it will be another shot Logic Board. Wish I had sprung for Apple Care when I had the chance. Prior to this, I've had the USB ports go dead, it was the Logic board failing. Hoping I don't have to pay $500 for a fix this time around.
