I have a 2014 MBP 15 inch. For a few months I've had issues with the laptop randomly going off if the battery is under 50%. It's now at the stage that it will turn off itself even if connected to the charger. The cycle count for the battery is 950 so definitely due to be changed. I plan on upgrading in the next couple of years so don't want to spend a fortune on a new one from Apple for £200. The other options are £140 from ismash or do it myself for about 40-60. I've already removed the old battery with no issues. (Just to check I could do it before buying a battery) now the problem is there are that many options. On Amazon some state they are original OEM as supplied to apple but then reading the comments they're obviously fake comments as they don't even relate to a battery. One is talking about a loom for sewing 😂😂

Could anyone offer advice on where is best to buy a battery of fitting it myself?

Many thanks

Danny

you will not have much luck getting an oem battery outside apple.
I got one for my late 2013 from a local store here in India for 60$ and it looks like oem but the i can see some differences if it look hard enough the manufactured date shows 2015 by simplo. I realized ifixit sells the same ones. You can try Temark,iFixit(read some bad reviews of late) Newer.
Personally i would prefer paying apple and getting the whole topcase and their warranty if they did not consider my mac vintage. I have had 3 replacements with these after market 'compatible' batteries first one would not charge, second one just randomly stopped working and was on a restart loop, third one worked fine but health dropped to 90% in 60 charges thought it was normal but i later found the battery had swollen up. they would not accept warranty for swollen batterys had to buy a new one. Im just holding out on a new 16" for a while.
