so there's been a lot of talk about certain programs and apps that switch the MBP to the 330m. Out of curiosity, how long can the battery life last running on the intel and the 300m, respectively?

You might find this to be handy :)

That's a good article, but they don't compare battery life between the Intel GPU and discrete 330M GPU, which is what the OP is looking for.

If I force the 330M to run full time, I notice a reduction in battery life around 25% for light duty tasks versus Intel GPU. For GPU intensive tasks, there's no difference of course because the 330M would automatically kick in anyway. Battery life with the 330M running full time is almost same as last year's model running the 9400M, and better than 9600M GT.

thx for the link guys.

also, hows the battery life when running on windows7? i heard windows automatically sets it to the 330m? any way of changing that?

Windows will always use the discreet graphics card which uses more power. Also, Windows power management on the MBP is not very good.

Windows 7 runs very well on the MBP but the Apple drivers do not go out of their way for things like switchable graphics or great power management.

Maybe in the future somebody will release an application that will switch graphic cards. Other manufacturers have such utilities but Apple doesn't want to make Windows too good on the MBP...

Cheers!
