Has anyone else noticed that the battery indicator shows that Lion seems to have shortened the battery life of their laptop? I hope it's not just me.

Thanks.

I only got to use my mbp for 30 minutes after the update, and it did seem like the battery life was shorter. I had 98% battery and it said 2:45 minutes remaining. I will look into this more after work.

Just want to revisit this - has your battery life improved?

It seems like Lion causes Spotlight to reindex which results in your CPU usage jumping up for a short while until it completes (which would result in increased heat, constant fan spinning, decreased battery life, etc.).

After using Lion for a day and a half, my battery life is noticeably shorter. With SL I could get 5.5 hours. On lion it lasted 3.

i have a mid-2010 13 inch MBP and my battery life is also VERY noticeably shorter. i'm talking at least 2.5 hours shorter.

the only thing i can notice different in activity monitor is that Safari is using about 500MB more RAM than SL, but that's about it.

I love the OS except for the reduced battery life and sometimes stuttering animations dealing with full screen apps.

macbook pro 13" early 2011

5.5 hour estimate on 1/3 brightness, only running google chrome. defs shorter battery life.

My battery life was quite short after upgrading (due Spotlight indexing), but now everything is back to normal. Very happy with this upgrade :D

Been using GM Lion (its the same as retail version I believe) and I have significant drop in battery life... Went from ~2:45hours to around 1:30hours with similar brightness / wifi on / bluetooth off.

This is annoying :(

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_4 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8K2 Safari/6533.18.5)

I expect battery issues to be solved in coming updates, there's probably some bugs/unoptimisation that's making batteries run low

Battery life was shorter for about an hour. Once spotlight finishes to reindex, closing all apps and restart seemed to have solved the problem for me...

Maybe a SMC reset would help?

my battery used to be around 3:45 on a full charge and is at 1:33 now. spotlight has indexed, closed applications and did a restart. same thing so hopefully fixed in 10.7.1. im sure apple wanted to get this out so a lot might not be optimized yet.
