The battery life I amazing on the mini. When we picked ours up at the Apple store on Saturday it had 56% remaining in battery life.

After being used all weekend it finally died late last night.

So since its using the lighting charger now, does it charge a lot faster? Because that is what annoyed me about the full sized ones that take forever....

No, it's just the opposite. The mini ships with a 5W charger (same as iPhone), so it charges slower.

My battery life is great as well! Still going strong since its first full recharge on Saturday night.

I don't get what this article is talking about when comparing the Mini to the Kindle and Nexus on battery life. Check out the numbers at the bottom of the page. They rated the Mini the worse, only getting 6.1 hours in airplane mode with brightness up all the way. I guess the display chews up all the battery if the brightness is up that high?

Finally got mine to die; took me forever. This thing has crazy good battery life!

But the battery is around a third smaller. So overall I think it still charges faster than the full size iPad even when only getting 5w.

Anyone using a 10w or 12w charger? It's only $20 so I'm wondering if the difference in charging time is worth picking it up for.

I would absolutely love to know if the 10w charger will charge the iPad mini faster or if it is limited to only draw 5w of battery. I have no idea where my original iPad charger went (I moved from college to home to another house this weekend and it disappeared). I could swear my iPhone charged much faster using the 10w iPad charger, even though the iPhone is only supposed to draw 5w to charge.

It's been proven that the 5w charger that it comes with will charge it in ~4 hours while the 12w charger will charge it in ~2 hours.

Thank you, that's great to know. Looks like I'm going to have to pick one up soon! Although, with this great battery life, I've only had to charge every other night. I just would like it for traveling or when I need to charge it quicker...

I like these threads :) I can show off the battery life of my ipad 3.

Just got down to 2% on my iPad Mini after about 8 hours of heavy gaming use. That's pretty outstanding considering I was playing some pretty intensive games like IB2, NOVA 3 as well as others. To compare, I was only getting about 3 - 3 1/2 hours on my iPod Touch 5g with this same type of activity.

Does anyone know if the battery life get's a little longer after the first set of initial charges? I'm not complaining about this at all, just curious if the battery get's "primed" and then hits it's peak performance.

I've always understood that these batteries show a ~10% increase in battery life over the first several charge cycles.

Regards,
Tom

My battery feels like the gas gauge on my old hummer. The battery sux. I'm shocked. It's not as good as my ipad3 which IS terrible. And I know how to a battery properly.
