I have a MBP 2012 (16gb ram, 1tb drive) whose battery shows only 250 cycles.

I seem to only get 3-4 hours of web use but can run a compete 3 hours video. I rarely use via AC power until the need arises but generally just quit using and charge up for another day.

Updated from 10.11 to 10.12 about a year ago. The cycle count then was 185. Seems like battery life was a bit better but not drastically.

I could easily use 10.9 or 10.11 if either would offer longer battery life.

Any thoughts on MacOS versions and battery life?
I guess perhaps not only the OS but related programs like Firefox v30 compared to v60 have effect?

Have used all the normal tips:

Not anything unusual viewing the Activity Monitor.

Thanks for reading!

I have a retina 2012 mbp 15" w/ 209 cycles. It's even lower than yours. It's sitting at 91% capacity after all these years. I'm running the latest 10.14.6 btw. Battery life is around what you're describing - 3 - 5 hours on average which I think is acceptable given the age of the device.
