Would be extremely interested in hearing about the battery life of the MacBook Air - either the 13.3" or 11.6" from someone using it firsthand.

You'll have to wait for someone/anyone to *get* it firsthand. Right now you've got to wait for the stores to get it and/or wait for shipping.
Apple's battery estimates have been pretty decent lately though. The 10 Hour MBPs get 10 hours on Wifi/low brightness. I'd expect the 7 hour MBAs to get 7 hours on Wifi/Low Brightness.
The Battery went from 40W/Hr to 50W/Hr on the 13" Model.
