There you go:

no gaming no VMs, normal usage with some internet, youtube and software development.

Worse than on my 3 years old 2013 rMBP 15" (which had solid 8-9 hours at the beginning, 5-6 hours after 3 years of usage), tons of other people reporting same ****** battery life on reddit and youtube:

Why did Apple do this to their batteries and then advertised it as 10 hours battery life while clearly it's untrue.

I would like to know what's your usage and battery life on the new macbook pros?

I got 6-7 hours with light use (Browsing, listening to some music, no Flashvideos etc)
When working in Lightroom I get 3-4 hours.
When doing heavy stuff like importing RAW images I lose 10% battery in 5 minutes. I stopped it with my watch.

The battery estimate of 10 hours only holds true when you are only surfing the web with 50% display brightness with a perfect WiFi signal.

this is really bad, i got more than 5 hours with my late 2013 15 inch retina

I'm returning my MacBook tomorrow because of that only. I love the new machine, but the battery time is a deal breaker for me.

99wh to 74wh is a big change - and on top of that, you had an iGPU version of the previous model with that capacity.

Last years model had 33% more battery capacity! 33%! A bit of savings from the P3 display and skylake won't make up for the power usage of that CPU/GPU.

A lot of people might not even realise when their dGPU going on and off, doing basic tasks as simple as opening a preference pane on some basic apps!

I think if Apple managed to release the i7-6770 iGPU only version sometime in the near future, I'd probably upgrade from my non-touch bar.

Here is the estimated battery life with just safari open, seriously what the hell is going on at Apple?

Mine showed over 11 hours left at around 80% last night just using Safari and Messages. Point being, the estimate sucks and isn't really something to go by currently.

I used mine for 4 days and got consistently bad batterylife.

So by that logic you're telling me I was going to get 11 hours like it said? Cool, mine's awesome then.

I got a estimation of 6 hours and it was empty after around 6 hours. It does not imply that you get 11 hours when it says 11 hours obviously. Note the tense I used, it was past tense. I double checked the estimation later with the real world result.

It's possible that the laptop could still last for 10 hours without charging if you just surf the web. The thing is, when it does something that requires the CPU to work the battery time is much, MUCH worse that last model's. I don't really care if it can stay awake for 10-11 hours as that's not how I use my laptop.

Mine has been all over the map. Sometimes It shows around 3 hours remaining with around 100% charge. Sometimes it shows 11 hours remaining. It drained twice in under 4 hours browsing the web. Another time I wasn't able to get it to drain more than 50% after browsing the web for 5 hours. Most of the time the battery drains at a rate of about 5-6 hours per charge.

Apple is shipping me a new laptop as we speak. But I'm not holding my breath.

Yes, that's what I've been seeing too. I'm really, really disappointed because that machine is impeccable otherwise!

Wait, so it's only accurate when it's a low number? First you're telling me the estimate is actually accurate, and then you say that there's clearly no way I can get 11 hours despite it saying that. Really not sure what you're trying to say still.

How about this, let's not even use the estimate time at all (it's clearly bunk right now) and just go by percent. When it's dead, it's dead. Sounds good to me.

I did not say the estimate is accurate. I say that i got 6 hours which got estimated. It is only accurate if you got the same workload for the entire time. I furthermore did not state that you are unable to get 11 hours. I merely said what batterylife I get in my usecase. You claim that I said stuff I actually did not say. lol I did not go by the estimate but by the real-world usage indicated by my watch.

You said yours estimated 6 hours and you got 6. Ok, cool. But mine can't get 11 when it's estimating 11 for some reason? Anyways, I'm done. This conversation is pointless right now.

If you're unhappy with the battery life then it's pretty easy to return.

Same, horrible battery life compared to the 2015 MacBook Pro
