Is it normal for 43 minutes of usage on my iPhone 4 to bring my battery percentage down to 88%?

This is wrong, I should have read better.

LOL no!

Are you JB? What do you have running/installed?

I probably have some background apps running that I haven't quit, bur other than that it's just a basic non jailbroken phone.

Wow. I'd say you've got something that's going pear-shaped.

May try a restore, and set up as new. May try reinstalling your apps one at a time to see if any of them is causing a problem.

If you still lose that much that fast, I'd visit an Apple store.

That would be 6:15 of total usage before a recharge, on the low side, but if your 43 min. was hard use, certain games, or lots of upload/downloads via 3G, then not horrible.

Wait a minute. You're right. For some reason I was thinking the OP meant that 43 minutes brought his battery life down BY 88% (as in 12% left)

I really should have my coffee before posting.

Yes, a 12% reduction for good solid use isn't unheard of. I wouldn't worry about it.
