Battery Life really poor?!?!?!

I've had my MBP for about 6 months now and I've noticed the battery life is a bit poor.

Is this normal?

45% charge, full brightness, safari open with lots of tabs, quite a few other programs, no flash (to my knowledge) = 1 hour?

Brightness reduces battery life significantly, but maybe the following can help too:

Have a look at Activity Monitor (Applications / Utilities /) and select All Processes and sort by CPU to see what the culprit may be.
