I hadn't used the MB for a couple of years, had it in a closet. I always thought it was such a cool device. So I revived it, updated it,
cleaned it up, etc. And now using it just for basic stuff,I find the battery really is a POS. The laptop is like new. If I get 4 -5 hours I'm lucky.I can't recall if it was always like this when I first got it. Any suggestions?

When you store a computer with a non-removable battery away for 'years' it should be at around 60% capacity when stored away, turned off, and left in medium cold temperature. That's the optimal condition to decrease the rate at which the battery degrades; But even under optimal conditions, keeping it stored long term will still degrade the battery. Keeping it fully charged or even worse, full discharged when storing it degrades it even faster

There's a couple battery health apps in the Mac App Store. A few free ones. They'll show you how degraded the battery is. Likely it's toast and the only fix is to replace it
