i felt like 5S was getting hung up on some things on 8.0, so i downgraded to 7.1.2.

How is it now? are you on 8.0.2?? any hang ups? predictive type seemed to take FOREVER.

Yes I am on 8.0.2. I have no problems whatsoever. The phone's running smooth as silk.…

Battery life on my 5s with 8.0.2. My battery life was either better on 8.0.1 or my usage pattern changed...

I think about 7 hours is par for 5s....

I was gobsmacked to get nearly 11 odd hours of usage and wondered if others were seeing huge improvement in their battery life as well.....

Yep, 11 hours is unreal. Have you've averaged that over several charges?

Aww, I want that kind of usage out of my iPhone 5. I can barely manage to get 5 hours from very light usage. I lost 3 percent while typing this.

I don't know yet, but I will keep an eye on my usage pattern over next few days...

I was hoping more people would be getting good battery life and that would have put my mind to rest, that this wasn't an anamoly..

I will keep posting my usage over next few days....

OP, Sleepcycle is your number 1 battery drain. This isn't an app you actually use during the day, it runs by itself at night causing the usage to go up. Thus, it's safe to assume the actual usage is no where near 11 hours.

Huh???

I know sleepcycle is a battery drain, and I only switch it on when I go to bed and switch it off as soon as I wake up..

Even with sleepcycle 'on' during night, I got 11 hours usage..... That is insanely good battery life...

Well it's by far your top battery drain so obviously it was running all night and judging off the fact this was taken at 9 in the morning it was probably running all night making the usage time go way up. Heck, the app even tells you to plug your phone in because it has to monitor your movements all night.

"Home and lockscreen" is what really tells you how much you actually use your phone. Usage time doesn't mean how much you've been using it.

I assume Sleep Cycle counts as usage, which would mean that that number is split between your actual usage and Sleep Cycle's usage.

If sleepcycle is a battery drain, as you correctly put it, then it should have given me less usage right ?? As you say, the battery would drain quickly..

Even though sleepcycle recommend iPhone to be plugged in overnight when running the app, I never do. Approximate battery drop overnight for 7 odd hour sleep was 30%..

Anyway, I will try checking my battery usage without using sleepcycle tonight and see what numbers come up...

Some things drain the battery faster than others. For example, I could listen to music for 20 hours straight and still have battery left and I would technically have 20 hours of usage. That is a lot different than 4 hours of usage during gaming.
Since the screen is off when sleepcycle is monitoring your movements, it's not draining battery that fast but nevertheless it still counts as usage since the phone is actively running a process.

What you say makes sense....

I will try to check the battery usage without sleepcycle for a couple of days and see what the numbers are like....

I've got a battery drain problem with iOS 8.0.2. I did a simple check last night, and I had 20% drain over 8 hours, with the phone untouched (not charging). Normal behavior should be 5%, unattended overnight.

I've got the usual suspect dialed down: Facebook has background updates disabled.

Any insights?
