Hi
I put an SSD and replaced the optical drive with an hard drive.
Now I feel that in idle the battery drains too fast...

Maybe because the hard drive in the optical drive bay consumes energy when in idle?

Possibly, I was able to install my SSD in the Optical bay, the HDD holds media and some lesser-used apps, if not needed it spins down and I find I get greater battery life than before.

But is it possible to configure the hard drive to sleep when in idle?

Click on your battery/power icon on the top right corner of the menu bar. The last item listed should be...

Open Energy Saver Preferences...

If I am not accessing the media on the HDD then it spins down after a period and stays off. Whether your drive spins down will depend on the drive, what is on it, what your energy saver prefs are and whether it is in the main drive bay.
