What is quite strange is that the previous generation had 10 hours and now it only has 7. I wonder if this change is due to them calculating this differently or if battery life has actually gotten worse.

Oh well. I am not in the market for a laptop at the moment, but I guess when its time to buy it will be a much tighter race between the Pro and the Air for me. Basically, for $200 more ($100 difference to move up to MBA, plus $100 more for 4GB memory upgrade) you lose a some processor speed but you get a thinner, lighter computer with an SSD drive - which helps it load things faster anyway. Not a bad trade off.

Maybe the next generation will drop the DVD drive and expand battery to 15 hours. That'd be hot!

I'd like to know how the 15" with a 77.5 watt-hour battery can last the same amount of time as the 17" with a 95 watt-hour battery. The only difference is the size of the display. Does the 17" backlight drain that much more power over the 15".

More stringent battery tests.
