I'm trying to create a video that looks like a home recording and I want to have a low battery indicator on the screen. How can I make that happen? Is there a plug-in effect that I can use for that? Basically I want the battery to look like it dies during the shot. Thanks!

I think it's called Camera point of view.

my suggestion would be to build an overlay in photoshop.
I agree, that would be the most flexible solution. Short of that, in case the OP doesn't have Photoshop or a similar graphics app, you could use Final Cut's text generator to render the words "LOW BATTERY" in bold red letters, make it blink and put that on a layer on top of the video.
