Hello everyone,

I am reaching out to you guys because I have a question regarding my MacBook Pro. I have a base m4 pro 14inch with 512 and 24gb ram. I got it in may, I kinda used it daily, though I had days off so not really that much intensive as others would expect. The problem is that my battery % is at 98 with 68 cycles, will that be a problem on the long run if I want to keep it for a few years? I was thinking that if it goes under 80% I could maybe have its battery changed, would that be something worth tho?
I would like to mention that I do have it plugged in when it gets quite bellow the 50/60%, sometimes I forget to close it and it goes on sleep as well so maybe that could cause this drain? I dont really play games on it or something else, I do some light safari, since it uses the less resources out there, and some vscode small projects from time to time.

Mine dropped to 98% at 121 cycles according to CoconutBattery, currently at 97%/141 cycles. Once it gets to 80% or lower, it’s going to start bothering you with ‘service battery’ popups whether you’d like them or not, but I wouldn’t imagine that’s going to happen very soon – my M1 Air got down to 87% and stayed there until I finally sold it last year. I got AppleCare+ for the MBP which will take care of battery service cost once it’s eventually needed – I’ll probably replace the MBP before then, though.

Your numbers sound pretty normal, I wouldn't expect problems based on that.

It's certainly worth a replacement ($249 today, or $0 with AppleCare) if it gets to 80% in several years time & the MBP functions well in every other way.
