Battery Meter Issue

Hello! My battery meter has been acting odd. It reads 100% and doesnt change. Should I reset the SMC? It has never lasted this long. Earlier today while charging it, it said 0% only so i restarted it and it started to read properly. The little lights on the side wouldn't light up either.

Mid-2009 Macbook Pro. 10.7.5.

It now says I have almost 6 hours left of battery. This thing lasts 4 hours MAX usually.

I am no expert but I suspect that the battery is dieing. My battery acted really strange like this when it was nearing its end and yours is also old - 4 years?

If you bought the battery from Apple I would go to the Apple store, they should fix it as it definitely seems to be malfunctioning. If it is a non-official battery they have been known to cause a lot of trouble.

Ah, well thanks. I bought it from iFixit. Seems to be running good now, but if troubles recur, then I'll look into it further.
