Does anyone know if there is a battery monitoring app for the iPhone? Prefer a free app but would interested in any battery monitoring apps.

AFAIK Apple made them remove that feature on their 1.5 update which up till now is not out yet.

I posted this after getting the email from the Free Memory dev team:

Hi,

Yes, the battery level will be removed in version 1.5. However, version 1.5 will contain a Game Mode that will allow freeing more than 35 MB of memory and the crashing/hanging/resetting problem when memory was less than 4 MB will be fixed. If Apple allows us to show the battery level, we'll add it back in.

Thanks.

Hey Taran420!

Might be wise to backup the actual app file on your Mac or PC. I know one day I'll hit 'Update All' and lose the old version!

No problem. It's the main reason I have Free Memory.

Having the numeric percentage of battery charge is preferable to the green icon in the upper corner. I do use it to free memory when it's below 20%, but I mainly want to see the percentage of charge when I open the app.

that was the main reason I purchased the app so I will not be updating until they can put it back in.

Can anyone think of a reason why Apple doesn't want the ability to see the battery level in an app?

How do you exactly back it up and if you do ever accidentally update it, how do you put the old version back?

Look for the .ipa file somewhere in your iTunes directory, and copy it to a Flash drive or somewhere else. Reverse the process to restore it.

What's with the makers of Free Memory putting out a new app that does the same thing as Free Mem but giving it a different name?

I'm not going to name the app b/c I think it's a rip to charge for a whole new app when it's just an upgrade of Free Mem 1.4. Their description of this new app has the name and then (Free Memory 1.5) in parentheses as I've just written. In case you're wondering, it still has the battery level, running processes, charging (or not) and what memory is being used.

I just feel ripped because it's simply an upgrade of Free Memory 1.4, only with a different name (Free Memory 1.5). What a rip. I'll stay with 1.4 anyway. The upgrade isn't that significant IMO.

What I want is something that will tell my grandson to stop playing games, and give me back my iPhone before the battery runs down.

It needs to interrupt him.

Any recommendations?
