So I just got my MacBook today, and I was wondering if there is something speical I am supposed to do to get the most out of the battery. I think when my brother got his 2 years ago he was supposed to let it die all the way on the first charge or something?

I looked through the manual but couldnt find anything, maybe I skipped it:confused:

Do nothing? Just make sure you fully charge the battery before using it.
Yes, absolutely. Get a full charge before you start using the battery. (You can use it while it's plugged in and charging, but do not use it from the battery until it's been fully topped up.)

sou1 so1di3r, what you're thinking about is calibrating your battery. This has nothing to do with making your battery last longer; it just keeps the "fuel gauge" accurate with regards to how much capacity your battery has left. (That is, it helps keep you from accidentally running out of juice because your guage was wrong.)

I love you:apple:

I have a similar question -

Is it possible to run the MBP off AC power only? I used to do it with my Vaio by just popping the battery out - can I do with this with the MBP?

Thank you :)

It will reduce the processor speed:
"If the battery is removed from a MacBook or MacBook Pro, the computer will automatically reduce the processor speed. This prevents the computer from shutting down if it demands more power than the A/C adaptor alone can provide."

oh, just another quick question,

so I am assuming it is not necessary to do this on my first full battery use?
