does it contribute to battery drain at all?

i thought perhaps from having to constantly poll the battery for the data

Well it's worth a try. How funny would it be if that was the cause of everyone's issue lol

I keep it off. When it's on I find myself stalking the battery % and wondering why I just lost 2% doing nothing. When it's off you can just enjoy the phone.

Not a bad strategy. For a similar reason if I wake up during the night I never look at the clock or I will just dwell on how little time there is before I really have to get up.

Me too. I think I'm gonna disable the battery percentage now, so I stop battery stalking.

At first I always used the battery percentage. Thought it was a good idea. Nope, all I would do is look and see how much I used. Way better having the meter instead.
