Hi, my battery has been fine the all of a sudden its been giving me grief sometimes even though I know it was at about 80% ill shutdown then it won't power up the next day unless its. Plugged in. Sometimes ill switch it on and it will tell me its at 0% but will still work and play a 5mb video.

Anyone help?

You haven't given us any clues as to the age of the battery. It may just be at end of life.
 
Time for a new battery. That's what my battery did just and it was replaced. It was about 18 months old. The only way you can check it is to take it into apple and they can see what the cycle count is.

I had this with my 08 macbook, Just recently did a fresh install of snow leopard and it;s working great again.

Try resetting the SMC, instructions for which are in the following link under CHARGING. Also, make sure your battery is properly calibrated.
