Battery Popped?

I have my laptop on a stand and I noticed it was a little bit lopsided.. looked under it and it seems the battery popped.. I know my computer wasnt dropped but it has some strange dents like somethin strange happened.. Just seems like it popped or exploded or somethin.. has anyone seen anythin like this?

I got this macbook pro in 2007 so I might not be covered by the warranty.. if I'm not is there anywhere I can buy this battery for the 17 inch MBP C2D?

Will I be ok running it off the powercord without the battery?

I think that you can still get the batteries from Apple.. Not 100% on that though.

I ran a '06 MacBook with a bad battery on just the power cord, didn't have any problems
