Battery problem

Just a quick one. Can I plug into mains power if my battery is cooked? Macbook Pro 17" - 2 years old, is this it's lifespan?
 
If by "cooked" you mean the battery has died a normal death and won't take a charge any more, then yes, you can still connect to mains.
