battery question and more?

i heard alot fo people in this forums saying about some calibration on the battery what is this for? and how do you do it?
i gave my macbook a full charge the first time i got it because i hearad people say that if you don't cahrge the first timethe battery is gonna suck that you are not suppose not to even turn it on? is this true?
