Battery replacement and overheating

I have a 2011 MacBook Air and when I check the battery status, it tells me I need to replace the battery soon. My laptop also overheats quite easily and frequently. After about 10 minutes of usage, the fan goes on full blast.

I'm wondering if this overheating issue will be remedied with a battery replacement? Or is it likely to be unrelated? I am trying to decide whether to fix the battery or just buy a new MacBook.
